Her story
Why families come to me
When parents reach out to me, it is often because they have already tried so much. They have consulted
mental health professionals, educators and other parents, yet many of the strategies they were given have led to
more frustration, and more worry. Most of them come to me with three hopes that feel almost universal.
1
"I want my child to be happy."
2
"I want my child to get a good education and go to college."
3
"I want my child to grow into a responsible adult who can manage the ups and downs of life."
My approach is different because of a rare combination of experience. I am a licensed clinical psychologist, a longtime educator, and a parent. That means when I look at what a young person is going through, I can understand it from more than one perspective at the same time, the emotional side, the academic side, and the very human side of raising a child you love.
I take the time to understand whether a young person's needs are primarily emotional, primarily educational, or a combination of the two. Then I create an individualized plan that is unique to them. Again and again, I have found that helping a child in one area, such as easing anxiety or building executive functioning, creates real improvement in others. By supporting the whole young person, I have helped children and adolescents grow academically, socially and emotionally, reaching goals that once felt out of reach.
What makes my perspective different
One professional. Three perspectives.
Most providers see your child through a single lens. I bring three, and that is what
allows me to understand the whole picture.
The Clinician
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
I specialize in the emotional lives of children and adolescents, including anxiety, depression, OCD, social anxiety, giftedness, and high-functioning ASD, as well as supporting their families.
The Educator
A Longtime Educator & Educational Therapist
I understand how young people learn. Through advanced educational therapy and executive functioning support, I help students improve their relationship with their class work, their teachers, and their own learning style.
The Parent
A Parent Who Understands
When you trust someone with the care of your child, you want them to be competent, compassionate and caring. As a parent myself, I bring all three to every family I work with.
The heart of my work
"In times of change, learners inherit the earth, while
the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to
deal with a world that no longer exists."
Eric Hoffer
